Article 1 - The Rose Quarter Project has seen many iterations over the last few years. During that time the price has nearly quadrupled… not to mentioned there is a newer rendition that may raise the price again.
All that said, from where is this money going to come? The legislatures, in HB2098 which did not go to vote, promised that tolling would not fund the project. Meanwhile ODOT, in August, said tolling would fund the project.
Article 2 - This quote is taken from ODOT’s website… “The Oregon Transportation Commission is in the final steps of identifying where to spend more than $3 billion to preserve and improve the state's transportation system.
Every three years, the commission puts together the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, also known as the STIP, that lays out where we will invest federal and state money in the transportation system…”
We wanted you to know that the project to add lanes to I-205, according to ODOT’s website, has now been deleted from the 2024-2027 STIP.
Article 3 - Pennsylvania has transportation funding woes as well as… well… as well as most of the country. Yes, it is a huge and real problem to find funding for transportation maintenance and construction of which Oregon is not alone.
This study, from Penn DOT, looks at the various ways funding can be obtained. The concepts are not new, but it is user friendly…
