Have you ever thought of the difference between Sharing, Giving and Taking? They are distinctive.
Sharing is the act of giving a portion of what you have with the understanding that both of you will benefit… think of you both holding something together.
Giving is the act of giving what you have with no responsibility from the other person… think of you’re placing the gift into a persons open hand.
Taking is the act of another grabbing from your hand while not considering you or your needs.
Some words to ponder as we go into this Holiday Season… in light of tolling…
In Short
Article 1 - On November 27th the Regional Transportation Advisory Committee (RTAC) met. This meeting was to take place 2 to 3 weeks earlier but ODOT Director Kris Stickler had conflicts… and RTAC needed him in the room.
Looking at the Slide Deck, provided in the Weekly Articles, note page 34 (bottom left corner numbers). ODOT is revisiting an HOV Lane for I-205. The Slide Deck also has lots of information on proposed toll rates.
Article 2 - The link for the November RTAC Meeting is provided below
Article 3 - Cascade Policy Institute takes a look at what Tri-Met might look like in the 21st Century. The word Relevant is used to describe what is needed as to what is currently going on.
This article does not focus on the lack of Mass Transit in the I-205 corridor, which in and of itself is a major problem. But with tolling proposed, and nothing in the works, Mass Transit, could Cascades’ ideas roll onto I-205?
