Welcome to 2024… and welcome in the new fees for many DMV services. License renewals, drivers tests, plate fees will now cost more as ODOT seeks monies to keep things funded. But don’t worry… these fees pale in comparison to the future toll bills of 2026 and forever.
But you can be heard! This coming Saturday, January 6th, at 1pm will be a meeting with the Special Subcommittee. This will be at the Gladstone High School Auditorium. Show up to talk, or submit your testimony on-line, so that your voice can be heard. We were in the Wilsonville Subcommittee meeting a few weeks ago as the Committee of legislatures heard from many of us… now let them hear from you!
Currently, the Oregon Transportation Commission has approved a draft, with very few exemptions, to toll everyone. Discounts may apply but those rules have not been finalized. Again, the people must be heard!
In Short
Article 1 - In this KTVZ.com news article, the DMV’s new 2024 fee schedule is laid out. The fees are for all in the State.
We are a bit baffled by this DMV quote… "For instance, driving skills tests are labor-intensive to provide, and the fee is increasing from $9 to $45. Yet our cost to provide the service is $123 per test…” Then why not charge $123 per test? Ultimately, another service paid for by the tax-payer.
Article 2 - The Joint Committee on Transportation Special Subcommittee on Transportation Planning (yes, this really is the name) is coming to Gladstone on January 6th at 1pm. If you wish for your voice to be heard then you need to be there. Below is the information flier.
Article 3 - The Oregon Transportation Commission met on December 12th and approved the draft of the low-income toll plan. In the video, provided below, ODOT says people are… “not that worked up about it…” because no one was at the meeting to testify. Sorry City of Charbonneau, you mean nothing to ODOT because you didn’t travel to Salem to testify. FYI, 27min mark in the video.
Also, at 50 min, ODOT is having difficulty in defining diversion. Yes, the editor rolled his eyes when he heard this…
