Two Mayors, two Oregon Representatives, Oregon Trucking Association President,
& ODOT Assistant Director, were on the panel, in person.
Items that really made me wonder about Tolls.
The State Government claims to know what all lower income people earn.
About 95% of people who qualify for low income discount will not brave the red tape or have access to apply.
ODOT thinks that Diversion will only affect intersections.
Our Fuel Tax costs about
.5 percent to collect. Compare to the toll cost of 40%to 50% . I have also read 30% to 60%. So on $100 of your toll , the expense is
$40 or more compared to
50 cents or a little more.
Obviously an easy choice for anyone except a politician.
